Interactive Learning Objectives

According to Wiley (2000), a learning object is "any digital resource that can be reused to support learning," as cited by Bratina, Hayes & Blumsack (2002).
To save unneccessary costs, teachers reuse learning objectives for online learning. These are generally interactive sites where students are able to learn through playing learning games, viewing an animation or interacting somehow with the technology which is in front of them.

Students are able to access these sites, both at home and at school. It's important that teachers make a real point when using these learning objectives and that they're not wasting time with games that don't relate to the topic.

I've found some websites here which could be very useful in my classroom.
http://www.innerbody.com/htm/body.html - this one contains a model where you can put the mouse over the different bone/ muscle/ nerve etc of the body and it will tell you what it is called.

http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_4719.asp -this site is all about the brain and gives great explanations and detailed images of the brain and what a healthy brain looks like compared to one with Alzheimer's disease.

These type of websites can be very useful in my classroom as my words can easily just fly over their heads, but if they are able to see what the bone/ muscle/ nerve looks like, where it is positioned and it's name, they are more likely to remember it.

  1. I agree Hannah, learning managers must select interactive learning objects that are relevent to the topic content and allows students to develop understandings, not just included because it is interactive and engaging. The examples you have posted are very educational and appropriate to your specialisation. Did you just type in a Google search to locate them?
